The access to a future of communication without physical contact

To say that the pandemic has taken the world by surprise would be overrated. Not only to the business world but also to us as a society. One of the greatest lessons that these almost two years have taught us, is that for the world to function again, we have to adapt first. That’s why the QR codes came as a new way for communication, without physical contact. What appeared to be a passing trend is now the norm in this new post-COVID era.

Before analyzing how QR codes can be a great benefit, it is important to understand what they are and why this technology remains relevant today, more than 20 years after their creation. A QR code is a two-dimensional square barcode that can store encoded data. Most of the time the data is usually the link to a website. They were created in 1994 by Denso Wave, a Japanese subsidiary in the Toyota Group. QR codes are the most famous 2D barcode in the world. They have earned their success in Japan since the 2000s.

In 2010 QR codes began to expand in the U.S. and then in Europe, where they can be notably seen in advertisements. And by 2011, an average of 5 QR codes were scanned daily by each Japanese, which is more than the average number of SMS sent.

Today, they are here to promote much more and we can start to think about what new uses they will be given, as they begin to take on great importance to us. Some features of why QR codes are so efficient are:

o Either It can be read very quickly and by various devices
o It stores large amounts of data
o It can be used on almost any medium: buses, screens, cards, paper, etc.
o Nowadays can help you to have a safe vacation

However, the most essential feature that makes QR codes unique is that they can keep us connected. They not only close the gap between the physical and digital worlds; they also bring us together, providing instant access to everything we need. They’ve helped us in the past, they’re doing it now, advocating social estrangement and non-contact interactions.

At Park Royal Hotels & Resorts, we have joined forces and appropriate technological models to control the pandemic and offers you a safe vacation. All with the intention that your stay is the most pleasant and safe. These codes located in different locations of our hotels, have different objectives to help you have better communication with us and enjoy an unforgettable holiday.
