The Cancun Planetarium opened its doors in 2013 as a technological and scientific center. Its main objective is to bring the universe, culture and the environment closer to all interested people.
Considered one of the most technologically advanced planetariums in its field, it is located on Avenida Palenque, in Cancun. Its creation was possible thanks to the financing provided by the Government of Quintana Roo, the National Council of Technology (CONACYT) and the Quintanarroense Council of Science and Technology (COQCYT).
In the Museum Rooms of the Ka'Yok Planetarium, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating worldview of the Mayan Culture, discover its technological and scientific advances, as well as marvel at its innumerable contributions to humanity. You will be able to walk the museum corridor and explore the ecliptic and the time line, which will take you to the Hall of the Planets and the Mayan Room.
The Ka'Yok Projection Room is an innovative space that will take you on a total immersion experience in the universe. With an impressive measurement of 12 meters in diameter, this room has state-of-the-art technology for projection in Planetariums and Digital Domes, which will allow you to enjoy a unique experience in exploring the cosmos and our planet. In addition, this room is also used for educational presentations, corporate events, and art and film projections.
At the Ka'Yok Planetarium, you will have the opportunity to appreciate celestial objects such as the Moon, the Sun, the Planets, Comets, Star Clusters and more. It has two specialized telescopes in different areas of observation. One is designed for nighttime observation and the other for daytime solar observation.
