Trattoria: In Italy, a trattoria would be the equivalent of a Mexican fonda (informal restaurant). These small, casual, informal establishments offer affordable options and are perfect for a deep dive into Italian home cooking. The dress code for this one is casual.

 

Osteria: Unlike a trattoria or ristorante, an osteria tends to focus more on selling alcoholic beverages. However, an osteria daily offers a small menu with 4 or 5 dishes options. In Mexico, its equivalent would be a bar or tavern. The dress code for this one is casual.
