When we created Royal Planet, our sustainability program at Park Royal Hotels & Resorts, we did so with a clear goal: to be a sustainable and socially responsible option in the world of hospitality and tourism for the families and travelers who visit us.
This set of actions, in addition to being a milestone for our hotel chain, is also focused on three key pillars:

With 2025 just around the corner, Park Royal Hotels & Resorts continues to work tirelessly to add value to our guests' stays while contributing to a positive impact on the planet.
- Environmental care: Implements initiatives to reduce environmental impact, such as reducing the use of plastics, waste management, and conservation of natural resources.
- Community commitment: Participates in activities that benefit local communities, promoting culture and gastronomy while fostering social development and the circular economy.
- Environmental awareness: Promotes a culture of respect for the natural environment and climate change among guests and collaborators.
Timeline
- March 2015: The first social benefit action was carried out through the program Vacations for Everyone.
- May 2017: Hotels with beaches in Mexico joined the sea turtle protection and conservation program.
- February 2018: Elimination of straws in all properties.
- May 2018: Elimination of styrofoam usage.
- September 2018: First drawing contest aimed at environmental awareness and beach cleanup.
- January 2019: Creation and publication of the sustainability calendar.
- March 2019: Organization of the first lights-off event in hotels with complementary environmental activities.
- June 2019: Creation of the sustainability policy to guide strategic and operational planning.
- July 2019:
- First carbon footprint calculation in our hotels as part of the GEI Mexico program.
- Adhesion to TheCode.org program to prevent the sexual exploitation of children in tourism and travel.
- October 2019: Collection of bottle caps for donation to the Banco de Tapitas A.C. foundation.
- November 2019: Launch of the "One kilo of staples for a wheelchair" campaign with the Ayo Foundation.
- December 2019 - March 2020: Obtaining Preferred by Nature Certification for Sustainable Tourism.
- September 2021: Introduction of ECOLAB products, environmentally friendly and effective for cleaning and disinfection.
- 2021 - 2022:
- Support for the restoration and monitoring of the Mesoamerican Reef.
- Conservation of green areas in the San Miguelito archaeological site.
- July 2023: Installation of dispensers in rooms and elimination of PET bottles.
- December 2023: Replacement of room keys with fabric bracelets with chips.
- February 2024: Signing the commitment with the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative.
- October 2024: Elimination of plastic bracelets.
