Huatulco
Located on the Pacific coast in the state of Oaxaca, Huatulco boasts 9 spectacular beaches of soft white sands right by the turquoise blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The bays are actually made up of small coves stretching along 26 kilometers of jagged coastline, including 36 white sandy beaches. Sunshine can be expected about 330 days a year allowing for an array of water sports.
Tangolunda Bay is the most developed of the bays and boasts an 18-hole golf course, shopping area and several restaurants. Five lovely beaches round out the attractions.
What to Eat in Huatulco!
Once you get over the fresh, fresh seafood - shrimp, lobster and fish and everything in between - you'll be pleased to wake up to the fact that Huatulco is in the state of Oaxaca, where cuisine is as complex and fascinating as anything in the Americas.
Signature mole comes in black, yellow, and red and is ladled over everything from simple rice and tortillas, enchiladas to some truly exotic delicacies. From there it only gets more fascinating. After everything, the local coffee growers association is roasting and brewing famous Oaxacan Pluma coffee beans.

"Alebrijes" are the fantastic and whimsical creatures that populate the entire region surrounding Huatulco. Carved and styled in papier-mâché, the figures are elaborately painted in decorative and bright colors, and come in as many varieties as there are craftsmen creating them. Oaxacan Coffee
Coffee has been grown in the warm mountains of southern Oaxaca (just inland from Huatulco). The high altitude of the mountains and the warm atmosphere supports a variety of beans and many farmers sell to the organic and free trade markets in Mexico and internationally. You'll find a few vendors roasting and selling these better coffee grinds in and around La Crucecita.
Wooden Sculptures
Elaborately and fantastically painted, carved wooden sculptures migrate down from the Oaxacan highlands in teeming numbers. Produced by generations of artisans and craftsmen, they're affordable, decorative and unique. Just about every creature under the sun, and plenty you've never seen before can be found in and around the streets of Huatulco.

So travel-friendly, the hand-woven and intricately constructed rugs, blankets, tables cloths - even curtains and linens - available in and around Huatulco make wonderful gifts.
